Join the Institute for Middle East Studies and the Middle East Policy Forum for the 2022 Annual Kuwait Chair Lecture, featuring Amb. Edward “Skip” Gnehm.

This event will be held in-person. GW requires that all guests and visitors aged 5 and older to our campuses are up-to-date on their COVID-19 vaccines, (i.e. fully vaccinated and boosted, if eligible) and that masks be worn inside all GW facilities. Visitors must demonstrate compliance via one of the following methods:
1. Use the CLEAR Health Pass App to show vaccination status.
2. Show your Centers for Disease Control (CDC) vaccination card (physical or digital) and a government-issued photo ID.
3. Exemptions to the vaccine requirement may be granted with documentation of a medical exemption and proof of a negative PCR or antigen test within 24 hours of the event.

  • Ambassador Edward W. Gnehm, Jr.

    Ambassador Edward W. Gnehm Jr. is Kuwait Professor of Gulf and Arabian Peninsula Affairs in the Elliott School for International Affairs at The George Washington University. Ambassador Gnehm joined the faculty of the Elliott School of International Affairs at The George Washington University in August 2004 as the J.B. and Maurice C. Shapiro Visiting Professor of International Affairs. He was appointed to his present position as Kuwait Professor of Gulf and Arabian Peninsula Affairs in August 2006. He is also Director of the Middle East Policy Forum. Prior to coming to the Elliott School, Ambassador Gnehm had a distinguished 36-year career in the United States Foreign Service. He was a member of the Senior Foreign Service and held the rank of Career Minister.
