The Institute for Middle Eastern Studies and the Middle East Policy Forum cordially invite you to the 2024 Kuwait Chair Lecture, “1979: A Year that Changed the Middle East.” Ambassador (ret.) Gordon Gray hopes that you can join him, Kuwaiti Ambassador Al-Zain Al-Sabah, Elliott School Dean Dr. Alyssa Ayres, and other friends and colleagues for the luncheon and lecture.

The Lecture and luncheon will take place on Thursday, March 7 from 12 noon – 2 p.m. in the City View Room (7th Floor) of the Elliott School of International Affairs (1957 E Street, NW, Washington, DC).


Schedule:

12:00 p.m. – 12:25 p.m. Registration in the foyer of the City View Room.

12:30 p.m. Guests are seated and luncheon is served.

    • Introductory remarks by Dr. Alyssa Ayres, Dean of the Elliott School of International Affairs.
    • Lecture by Ambassador (ret.) Gordon Gray, followed by Q and A.

2:00 p.m. Luncheon concludes.

Speaker

  • Ambassador (ret.) Gordon Gray is the Kuwait Professor of Gulf and Arabian Peninsula Affairs at the Elliott School of International Affairs at George Washington University. His 35 years of public service included tours as a Peace Corps volunteer in Morocco, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, and Ambassador to Tunisia from 2009 until 2012.
