Re-Engaging Gaza: Looking Beyond Politics Toward the Future

 –

Institute For Middle East Studies

This interdisciplinary conference will bring together a diverse group of scholars, journalists, and practitioners to discuss the complex contemporary issues facing the Gaza Strip. Looking beyond the dominant media and policy discourses, presenters will analyze issues of physical infrastructure, the dynamics of the public sphere and everyday politics, and the problematics of US policy. Our aim is to examine both the long-term structural issues and the ordinary daily obstacles facing the residents of Gaza and highlight the ways that individuals and institutions seek to circumvent or overcome these challenges.
