This half-day conference celebrates the release of the edited volume The Arab Uprisings Explained: New Contentious Politics in the Middle East (Columbia University Press, 2014).

The contributors to The Arab Uprisings Explained began conceiving and writing the chapters in mid-2011 and finished most revisions in mid-2013. Much has happened in the region since then. Participants will have the opportunity to present the key findings and arguments of their chapters and discuss how, if at all, recent developments challenge those findings.
