The War on Lebanon: History, Politics and Resistance
Over the past month the world has witnessed the expansion of war from Gaza to Lebanon, following Israel’s pager attacks, bombings, assassinations of Hezbollah leadership, and now a ground invasion. Join us for a discussion of the deeper history and context of Lebanon’s history of resistance to Israeli violence and its entwined struggle with the Palestinian people. The event will feature a discussion with the co-authors of MERIP’s recent primer on Lebanon, Lara Deeb (Scripps College), Maya Mikdashi (Rutgers University), Tsolin Nalbantian (Leiden University) and Nadya Sbaiti (Georgetown-Qatar), and moderated by Laleh Khalili (University of Exeter). This event is cosponsored by the Middle East Research and Information Project.
