IMES Visiting Scholar: Oussema Othmeni

Oussema Othmeni is a PhD Candidate and a Teaching Assistant at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, University of Sousse, Tunisia, and has joined the Institute for Middle East Studies as a Visiting Scholar for the 2022-23 academic year on a Fulbright Doctoral Scholarship. His research focuses on American Foreign Policy on post-conflict societies with a particular emphasis on Transitional Justice and Democratization. His interest in this field of study stems from his fascination with the dynamics of US Foreign Policy and his experience as a teenager living through a revolution and then a young adult witnessing its aftermath. Oussema holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Civilization and a Master’s degree in English Cultural Studies with a concentration on American Culture and Politics. During his time as an Assistant Teacher at the University of Sousse he taught undergraduate courses in American Culture, Political History, and US Foreign Policy.
