Doctoral (Ph.D.) Programs
Faculty members who are affiliated with the Institute for Middle East Studies also teach in doctoral programs in other academic departments at GW. Please note that the Elliott School of International Affairs does not offer any Ph.D. degrees. Prospective doctoral candidates interested in studying the Middle East should apply through the relevant disciplinary program (e.g. History, Political Science, Anthropology, etc).
Doctoral candidates whose work is related to the Middle East may request affiliation with the Institute for Middle East Studies by emailing imes
gwu [dot] edu. Affiliation confers a listing on the IMES website, inclusion in IMES programming (including research workshops & Graduate Student Symposia), and opportunities to apply for research funding.
