Are you looking for engaging activities, games, and brain breaks you can use in your classroom on Monday? Do you want to increase student engagement and encourage more speaking in the target language? Then this session is for you!

This interactive online session will explore student-centered games and brain breaks that promote active participation, communication, and meaningful use of the target language. Participants will experience practical activities that can be easily adapted for Arabic and other world language classrooms.

Through hands-on demonstrations, we will share strategies that support student-centered learning, improve engagement, build confidence, and create more opportunities for interpersonal communication. We will also connect these activities to ACTFL standards and proficiency-based instruction.

Participants will leave the session with ready-to-use games, brain breaks, resources, and strategies that can be implemented immediately with learners at different grade and proficiency levels.

Speaker:

Fadi Abughoush has been an educator with Chicago Public Schools for 19 years and has taught Arabic since 2008. He currently serves as the World Languages Department Chair at Lindblom Math & Science Academy, overseeing the Arabic and Chinese programs. Fadi is passionate about Comprehensible Input, student-centered learning, games, brain breaks, and strategies that get students actively communicating in the target language. He regularly presents at national and regional conferences, sharing practical strategies that teachers can immediately use in their classrooms. He is also the founder of #arabiclangchat, a board member of the Chicago Arabic Teachers Council, and a former Chair of the ACTFL Arabic Special Interest Group.
