MEPF: Remaining in the back seat? Europe’s Role in the Middle East

Dr. Asseburg and Dr. Bahout join the Middle East Policy Forum for a discussion moderated by Dr. Tamara Wittes on how Europe is approaching policy issues in the Middle East in light of new American leadership and a declining role in the region. Focusing on critical issues like the conclusion of the Syrian civil war and the Palestinian-Israeli peace process, our panelists will examine European countries’ role in resolving present conflicts.

Speakers
Dr. Muriel Asseburg is a Senior Fellow in the Middle East and Africa division of the Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik (SWP), the German Institute for International and Security Affairs in Berlin.
Dr. Joseph Bahout is a visiting scholar at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in their Middle East Program.
Dr. Tamara Cofman Wittes is a senior fellow in the Center for Middle East Policy at Brookings.
